A Tremendously Trotti Day!

Trotti biking is a great way for the ski areas to utilize their facilities (ski lifts, cable cars, mountain restaurants) in the warm weather. As with mountain biking or hiking where you can take a lift or cable car up the mountain in order to bike or hike down, you do the same with the trotti bikes that await you at the top. Except trotti bikes are much cooler (see pictures below).

Say Cheese!

La Maison du Gruyere, Gruyere, Switzerland
I was really excited to check out the medieval town of Gruyere and its renowned cheese-making factory, La Maison du Gruyere (see pictures below). Maybe a little too excited as I polished off the three samples of cheese they gave me before the tour even started. We'll call it research. This factory produces the majority of cheese from the area for public consumption/export and their processes are pretty amazing. The town of Gruyere, with its towering castle hovering above its main cobblestone street and overlooking the pristine pastures, is picture perfect.

Eaude (Ode) to the Fountains

With so much water gushing down the glacier-filled peaks and rushing rivers and streams, the sound of moving water is all around here. My most favorite sound is the sound of the rain so to hear the water through all these different channels is very soothing. I find that I'm drawn, however, to perhaps the most abundant of these vehicles: the fountains.
