Gruss Gott!
With a heavy heart yet elevated spirit, I write my last post of this journey. A thousand all-nighters couldn't have produced the learnings and growth I received from Switzerland and Austria (and sleeper Germany!). I mean, absorbing how to coast down a mountain on a trotti bike was worth the trip in itself. Making this trip alone, never once did I feel lonely. Notably because you were here with me. Your support and presence have been invaluable.
And on my way by train to catch my flight in Zurich, just when I thought my adventure was plumb out of wow moments, I was caught off guard by one last winter-wonderland-producing snowfall and the freshly covered alps. One final gift I got to marvel at.
There is no question this blog will continue. Where? When? I will be sure to keep everyone updated on my next steps but I welcome all half-baked ideas as life is an open book right now.
I leave you with some final shots- a few experimental ones with my ipad- from this week that share Salzburg's seasonal spirit. (I love the one of the kids dressed as their version of Krampus. I cracked up at their running amok at the Hellbrunn Palace Christmas market carrying switches and swinging the traditional rusty bells and chains that Krampus uses to bind and drag naughty children away!)
In the appropo words of Salzburg's own Von Trapp Family singers: So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye. For now.
Mit Liebe. Frohes Fest! (With Love. Happy Holidays!)
